DALMATIAN COAST AND NATIONAL PARKS
DAY 1: SPLIT AND SIBENIK
Early morning arrival in Split and guided tour of the old town. Split has always been a bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean and the Serenissima Venetian Republic made it one of its main landing points for routes to the east. Split most flourishing period was probably under the Roman rule of Emperor Gaius Valerius Aurelius Diocletian: his palace dates back to 293 AD, is built as a typical Roman military camp and is the best-preserved ancient building in Croatia.
The historic centre of Split is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After lunch, we will continue the tour with the visit of Sibenik, a town of central Dalmatia with an important port and rich of historical valuable monuments, mostly from the Venetian era, because this town belonged to the Republic of Venice for centuries.
Accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: ZADAR
After breakfast, we will head towards Zadar, where we will take a guided tour of its historic centre, set on a peninsula and surrounded by mighty walls: we will admire remains from the Roman period, medieval churches, Baroque architecture and elegant 19th century palaces.
Lunch in a restaurant and afternoon at your leisure.
Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: NATIONAL PARK KRKA
After breakfast, we will head towards Krka National Park where we will enjoy a full-day guided excursion. It is located along the middle-lower course of the River Krka in central Dalmatia, just a few kilometers from Knin. The river flows through a wide and scenic canyon 75 km long.
The travertine waterfalls of the River Krka are the main phenomenon of this river.
Stop for lunch in a restaurant during the visit.
In the afternoon, return to Sibenik, dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
DAY 4: KORNATI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, departure by boat to Kornati National Park, located between the rivers Zadar and Sibenik. It is an archipelago consisting of the island of Kornat and the surrounding islets and reefs, with a total of 109 islands, 76 of which are less than 1 hectare in size.
Lunch on board during the excursion.
Late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 5: TROGIR AND DEPARTURE
After breakfast we will depart to Trogir and enjoy a guided tour of the town centre, also known as “Little Venice” and since 1997, it has has been listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Thecente of the town, a well-preserved gem, consists of two islets connected to the mainland by two bridges: the old part is protected by mighty walls and hosts the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence, its main point of interest. Just across the port is the castle that often hosts folklore performances and lively waterfront promenade (the obala).
After lunch, we will head home.
